Suzette A. Haughton is a fellow with the Caribbean Policy Consortium, Professor of Security and International Relations and Head of the Department of Government at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Her research interests include International Relations, Security Studies and Education. She was a recipient of the Organisation of American States (OAS), Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada (DFAIT) fellowship to undertake post-doctoral training at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), University of Toronto. This Fellowship was undertaken through the programme on ‘Capacity Building of National Authorities to Monitor and Analyse the Impact of Illicit Drugs in the Americas’. She has published extensively on security threats affecting the Caribbean region, borders and border security. She is also an alumni of the Willian J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, Washington, DC and received her PhD from the Department of War Studies, King’s College, University of London.
