Annita Montoute is Lecturer and Interim Director at the Institute of International Relations, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. She lectures in Global Governance and International Organisation. She was research fellow at the European Centre for Development Policy Management.

Her research interests include civil society and global governance, the Caribbean’s external relations, and China in the Caribbean. Select publications include: (i) with Kudrat Virk (2017), The ACP - EU Development Partnership: Beyond the North South Debate, Palgrave McMillan; (ii) with Ruben Gonzales – Vincente (2020), A Caribbean perspective on China–Caribbean relations: global IR, dependency, and the postcolonial condition, Third World Quarterly (iii) 2016. Deliberate or Emancipate? Civil Society Participation in Trade Policy: The Case of the CARIFORUM–EU EPA, VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations.

She holds a PhD in International Relations, from The University of the West Indies. She is a trained teacher with a graduate certificate in Education from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
